Equalities networks
Aspect’s Equalities Networks are a new initiative designed to enable members with common areas of concern or interest to communicate with each other and share views and ideas. There have been a number of previous groups and gatherings among particular sections of Aspect membership, however often the pressures of the day job have made it difficult to build the level of community that participants were looking for.
Aims
Over time, the aim of the Equalities’ Networks is to establish them as self-administering groups, working according to the agenda and preferences of their members. In the first instance, however, our aim is simply to establish email lists to enable better communication. We will then look to develop online communities and potentially develop further ways of working as appropriate.
Networks
Initially we are looking to set up three Networks:
- BME Network – for members from Black and Ethnic Minority Groups
- Disability Network – for members who consider themselves to have any mental or physical disability
- LGBT Network – for members with lesbian, gay or bisexual orientation, or from the trans community
To put yourself forward to join one (or more!) of these networks please contact Helen Willis helen@aspect.org.uk.
Please also get in touch if you have any concerns or questions. Please be assured that your personal data will be treated with due care and respect, and confidentiality will be maintained.
